AN ANALYSIS OF EQUIVALENCE IN TRANSLATING HANDY MANNY (NEW YEAR SESION) MOVIE ENGLISH INTO INDONESIA

In this study the author tries to find out the type of translation used in translating the Handy Manny( New Year Session) movie. The researcher uses a qualitative descriptive method, to achieve this goal data collection is done by watching the handy Manny movie, and recording dialogue. After analyzing the data, it was found that 12 dialogues were sampled. Then, it devide into kinds of equivalence translation. Then were 10 that use formal equivalence and 2 dialogues that used dynamic equivalence. So the researcher found of that 83,3% in formal equivalence and 16,6% in dynamic equivalence. Based on the findings when it was simulated that the translation of the Handy Manny ( New Year Session) movie still maintained the source language, and did not want to reduce or add words.
