Abstract

This study aims to find the most indirect language learning strategies used by Eleventh Grade of SMA Taruna Tunas Bangsa. This study used descriptive quantitative method. The population of this study was 95 students of English education study program. The researcher used convenience sampling method which according the feedback received, a total of 16 students from XI IPA 1, 20 students from the XI IPA 2, 20 students from the XI IPA 3, and 15 students from the XI IPS has become the sample of this research. The data was collected through the questionnaire. It consisted 26 statements with three indicators, namely: metacognitive strategies, affective strategies, and social strategies. The researcher used five points of Likert Scale for analysing the data based on mean from the total data recapitulation, the data showed that the most strategies used by students of Eleventh Grade of SMA Taruna Tunas Bangsa is metacognitive strategies with the mean score is 3.8, the second is social strategies with the mean score is 3.7, and the last is affective strategies with the mean score 3.5. It means metacognitive strategies is the most strategies used by students of Eleventh Grade of SMA Taruna Tunas Bangsa.
