Abstract
This study aims to improve the English vocabulary mastery of fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Martapura by using Canva animation as a learning medium. Vocabulary is essential in language learning, particularly in supporting students’ communication skills. However, many elementary students struggle with vocabulary Mastery due to conventional and less engaging teaching methods. To address this, the researcher implemented a pre-experimental design using one group pre-test and post-test. The sample consisted of 27 students selected through cluster random sampling. The instructional material focused on vocabulary related to professions and workplaces,presented through animated videos made with Canva. Data were collected using multiple-choice and matching tests, and analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after the treatment, as post-test scores were higher
than pre-test scores. The significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) was below 0.05, indicating a meaningful difference between the results. These outcomes suggest that Canva animation is an effective and engaging tool for teaching vocabulary to young learners. It offers a more interactive and enjoyable
learning experience, making it a promising alternative to traditional methods in English language instruction at the elementary school level.
