Abstract
This study aims to analyze the discourse structure in three opinion articles published in t he Bhirawa newspaper, February 2024 edition. The analysis applies discourse structure theory, which includes three main components macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. The findings reveal that all three articlesconsistently and functionally apply these structures to convey messages to readers. The study identifies 6 macrostructures that reflect the unity of topics and themes, 23 superstructures that provide a logical flow of writing, and 31 microstructures
that highlight the linguistic strength of the opinion texts. The dominance of microstructure indicates the importance of linguistic elements such as word choice, meaning, and argumentative language style in shaping opinion. These
articles also carry strong social messages, including calls for change, criticism of policies, and awareness of individual roles. Therefore, the opinion articles in Bhirawa are not only informative but also educational and reflective of the social issues relevant to society.
