Abstract
The problem of this research was concerned to the students’ ability in speaking English of the tenth grade students at SMK N 02 OKU. The objectives of this research was to find out whether Information Gap Technique was effective or not to improve the tenth grade students’ speaking ability at SMK N 02 OKU. This research was conducted through quantitative descriptive with experimental design, namely pre-experimental. The population of this research was all of the tencth grade students at SMK N 02 OKU. The researcher used cluster random sampling to get the sample; the total of the sample was 23 students. The researcher used test in collecting the data. Test was administered twice, they were pre-test and post-tets. To analyzed the data, the researcher used SPSS 26 to find out the descriptive statistics, normality of the test, and the paired sample T-test. Based on the data analyses of the result of this research, the mean score of pre-test was 60,4 and post-test was 68,6. Then, the researcher found that the value of t-obtained was 9,165, at the significance level 0,000 in two tailed testing with df = 22, and the critical of t-table was 0,89381. It means that Information Gap Technique significant effective to improve the tenth grade students’ speaking ability at SMK N 02 OKU in academic year 2022/2022.
