Abstract
The method that used in this research is pre-experimental design. The instrument that the researcher used were pre test and post-test. The population and sample was the ninth grade of students of MTs Negeri 1 OKU. They were 36 students. The technique of sampling was purposive sampling, the data were analyzed by using scoring each student, percentage student score and mean, normality test, homogeneity test and hyphothesis test.
The result of this research indicates that the literature circle was effective to improve the students’ reading comprehension. It was proved by the data analysis by using paired t-test showed that significance value (2 tailed) is 0.000 which it is lower than the significance level = 0.05 (5%), it means that Alternative Hyphothesis (Ha) is accepted and the Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected. In conclusion, Literature circle is effective to use in teaching reading.
