Abstract
The problem of this study was to analyze the English syllable words stress error by the students of English education study program of Baturaja University. Objective of this study was to find out English syllable words stress errors. The writer used qualitative method, the population of this study were all of the students of English education study program of Baturaja University. In this case, the writer took the sample of the sixth and eighth semester students consisted 44 students. Recording test was used as the techniques for collecting the data. After the test, the result analyzed by Audacity program to check the correct and incorrect of the students pronounciation. The writer used Microsoft Exel to calculated the error percentage of the test. The percentage of incorrect answer on the first syllable was 21%, on the second syllable 26%, and on the third syllable was 40%. The percentage of kind of error was 64% on misplaced stress, 7% on double stressed and 0% on equal stressed. Based on the result, the highest error that made by students was on the third syllable and the highest kind of error was on misplaced stress.
