Abstract

This study aims to determine what students’ perception in using google translate as a learning media in English education study program class at Baturaja University. This study used descriptive quantitative method. The population of this study was 93 students of English education study program. The researcher took all 93 students namely 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th semester as the sample by applying total sampling. The data was collected through the questionnaire with google form as an intermediary application. It consist 20 statements with 3 indicator, namely: 1). students translating basic knowledge, 2). the use of google translate, and 3). google translate application. The researcher used five points of Likert Scale for analysing the data based on percentage interval from the total data recapitulation, the data showed that student’s answered 25,11% strongly agree, 41,11% students answered agree, 22,12% students answered neutral, 8,16% students answered disagree, and 3,5% students answered strongly disagree for all statement. And for the highest percentage interpretation based on interval, the result is 41,11% or in neutral criteria. It mean that students has positive response and support google translate as a learning media. It showed that google translate is an effective media for translating because it can help the students to improve their translating skill, enriches their vocabulary, improve their pronunciation and google translate is an easy, free tool to use and because of its features can access anywhere and make save time.
