Abstract

The researcher conducted the research entitled “The Use of Animation Video as a Medium in Teaching Vocabulary to Fourth Graders of SDN 04 OKU.” The researcher focused on knowing that the use of animation videos has a significant effect on students’ vocabulary. The design of this study was pre-experimental research. The population of this research was 87 students from the fourth grade students in SDN 04 OKU. In this research, the researcher used the cluster random
sampling technique. The sample for this research was fourth-grade students from 4D, which consists of 20 students. The kind of test given in this research was multiple choice and matching, which consisted of 20 questions and was valid for
the pre-test and post-test. The data was analyzed by using a sample paired T-test. The result of the analysis showed that the use of the animation video as a medium for vocabulary for fourth-grade students at SDN 04 OKU provided good benefits.
The result of the pre-test score was 62,00 and the post-test score after the treatment was 93.5. The testing of the hypothesis also proved that animation videos had a significant effect on students’ vocabulary. The significance value (2-tailed) showed that the value of Sig = 0.000 was less than the significance level (α= 0.05), sig (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05. From the result, it can be concluded that
animation videos can be used as a medium to improve students’ English vocabulary. The average score for using the animation video was 93.5 in the very good category. This showed that students can improve their English vocabulary using animation videos.
